Crash closes M6

There have been major delays on the M6 this morning (Saturday 5th August 2017) because of a crash.

The car and van collided between junctions 19 for Knutsford and 20 for the M56 at about 8:15am.

The driver of the car has been airlifted to Aintree hospital with serious injuries.

Police say the Northbound carriageway is likely to remain closed until 18:00 tonight.

They've put a diversion in place but are asking people to avoid the area where possible.
