Cor-Phew! Manchester holidaymakers take off 38 hours late.
Passengers delayed for nearly 2 days have finally flown to Corfu.
Holidaymakers who spent nearly two days delayed at Manchester Airport finally flew into Corfu, 38-hours late.
The Small Planet aircraft which was scheduled to take-off at 11am on Monday morning (August 1st) was grounded due to technical problems. Some traveller had managed to board the plane before the being ordered back into the terminal.
The Lithuanian-owned airline said the hitch was due to a fault with the hydraulic system on the plane and they cancelled the flight at 7pm. Coaches took passengers to a nearby hotel until the following morning.
Passenger Paul Preston told us: "I'm a mature student so I've had to save up for a couple of years for this holiday. We were going for one week because that's all we could afford and now instead of 7-days in the sun it's going to be just 5 days."
Small Planet and Olympic Holidays apologised for the delay and said customers were provided with hotel accommodation and refreshments.
Mr Preston said: "We had no proper information about what was wrong with the flight, whether it was broken. Nothing really!"
The aircraft departed from Manchester in the early hours of Wednesday morning (3rd August) and landed in Greece four hours later where passengers waiting to return back to Manchester were eventually flown home.
