Detectives investigating the murder of Martin Joyce have given up their search at The Bank of England Pub in Ancoats. Forensics experts have spent almost two weeks scouring the derelict building for the remains of Martin who was reported missing in September 1999, having last been seen at the pub. Police launched a murder investigation after the 45-year-old had not been seen for 17 years and, despite reported sightings, he has not yet been found. Although the search of The Bank of England Pub has been completed, the investigation is continuing and police are urging anyone with information to get in touch. Senior Investigating Officer Bob Tonge of GMP’s Major Incident Support Unit, said: “Unfortunately, we do not yet have answers that we can give to Martin’s family, which is why it is extremely important that anyone with information gets in contact. “There are ways that we can support you and your information will be treated in the strictest confidence so please do not hesitate to contact us. “We will continue to work closely with The National Crime Agency and endeavour to get answers for Martin’s family, which they so desperately need.” Anyone with information should contact police on 0161 856 4717 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
