A charity rugby match is being held in memory of a Wigan man who took his own life.

25-year old Nathan Christy died in July - his family are holding the event on Sunday 11th September to raise money for the charity CALM and to raise awareness of male suicide.

Suicide is the highest killer of men aged under 40 in the UK and more men are taking their own lives in Wigan than anywhere else in the country.

They're urging others that it's "ok not to be ok" and want men to open about their feelings before it's too late.

WATCH: Nathan's cousin Nicola tells us why they're holding the event:

The charity rugby match is between Ince Rose Bridge and Wigan St Patricks - two of Nathan's former teams - who are putting their rivalry aside for what will become an annual event.

The family fun day, which is happening at Ince Rose Bridge in Wigan from 2pm (rugby match kicks off at 3pm), will raise fund for the CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably) charity.

Nathan's family has had donations from many local businesses and celebrities, including Wales rugby union coach Shaun Edwards and comedian Stephen Fry.

Everyone's welcome to this event to remember Nathan and raise money for the prevention of male suicide.
