70 years since the birth of the NHS - we're marking the anniversary of the most famous institution in British history.

In 1948 it was formed - in Trafford - based on the idea that good health care should be free to all - and now serves nearly 65 million people across the UK.

More than 1.5 million people work for the NHS across the UK.

Today special celebrations took place at Trafford General to mark where it all started.

Health Minister Nye Bevan visited the first NHS patient on Ward 6 back in 1948.
