CCTV released after a woman was robbed in her home in Ashton
The woman in her 60s entered her bedroom to be confronted by a man demanding cash.
Police investigating after a woman was robbed in her home in Ashton-under-Lyne have released CCTV footage of a man they want to speak to in connection with the incident.
The woman, aged in her 60s, was in her home at Portland House on Katherine Street at around 2.30pm on Thursday 10 January 2019 when she entered her bedroom to be confronted by a man demanding cash.
He stole the woman’s purse containing cash and personal belongings and the woman suffered a cut to her eye.
Police have now released footage of a man officers want to speak to in connection with the incident.
The footage shows a man in the vicinity at the time of the offence who is seen to remove his jacket.
Detective Constable Scott Kerr of GMP’s Tameside Borough said: “This robbery left the woman understandably shocked and fearing for her safety.
“No-one should have to be confronted with this kind of crime, let alone in their own home.
“Since this offence occurred we have been following various lines of enquiry to trace the person responsible.
“Now we turn to one of our best weapons in fighting crime – the local community.
“We’d ask people to watch this footage carefully. Do you recognise the clothes this individual is wearing, or the manner in which he walks?
“The footage shows the same man before and after he has removed a dark-coloured parker style jacket.
“The footage is relatively clear and we expect someone out there to recognise this man.
“If you do, or have any information that may assist us, please get in touch as soon as possible.”
