CCTV images released of men wanted for serious assault
Police appeal for witnesses.
Police have released CCTV images of two men they wish to speak to in connection with a serious assault which left a man with a fractured jaw. At around 1am on Sunday 22nd May 2016, the victim and his friends were outside ‘The Corner Club’ bar on Bradshawgate, Bolton, when a man standing nearby accused the victim of being racist. A scuffle broke out, which was quickly broken up by the door staff, and the offender disappeared back inside the bar. He soon returned with some friends who launched into a vicious attack, punching and kicking the victim’s head until he sustained multiple facial fractures. He was taken to hospital, where he underwent surgery to have a metal plate wired to his jaw. The first offender is described as black, between 20 and 30 years old, muscular build and stubble. He was wearing a black baseball cap, a long-sleeved light coloured top, black trousers and was carrying a bag. The second offender is described as black, between 20 and 30 years old, slim build with short curly hair. He was wearing a long-sleeved black top with a white mark to the left of the chest, black trousers and a gold chain around his neck. Detective Sergeant Patrick Wood said: “The CCTV is clear, these men chase the victim a short distance before subjecting him to a barrage of punches and kicks, which caused him serious injuries. “He had a plate put in his jaw and also had to have his mouth wired shut to realign his teeth as a result of the assault. “It is unclear whether this was a provoked attack, but regardless of what was or wasn’t said in the build-up, there is never any excuse to resort to such mindless violence. “That is why it is important we identify these men, so we can speak to them about their actions and the circumstances that led to them.” Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 quoting incident number 260516/0561 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
