A Salford community which has been left devastated by an arson attack on its church will come together for a candlelit vigil tonight (Friday 24th February 2017).
The Church of Ascension on Ascension Road in Lower Broughton went up in flames on Sunday 12th February 2017.
Dozens of people are expected to meet at St Boniface's Social Club on Lower Browson Road at seven o clock. They'll walk to the church, say prayers and sing songs.
Jaime Wise, who's organised the vigil, told Key 103:
"It's on everyone's minds, everyone's talking about it
"The building was so important to the people of the area and we're all just shocked that this has actually happened.
"This church is more than just a church, it is the sort of the hub of the community.
"It does meals for refugees, it teaches refugees English, it also has a credit union so it's not just a place of worship.
"All these things are now suffering, as a result of the fire, these groups can't continue.
"It's not just hit the parishners."
