Bury man zapped with stun gun during robbery
Victim stunned then punched repeatedly as thieves steals cash
A man was zapped with a stun gun before being punched repeatedly during a street robbery in Bury.
The attack happened as the 21-year-old victim was walking to his van on Frank Street about 6.30pm on Saturday 22nd July.
He noticed a blue Ford Focus ST parked on Edward Street with three people inside. Two of the occupants got out of the car before zapping him with the stun gun and punching him.
They then stole a quantity of cash from him before the victim managed to run to Bury Market to raise the alarm. He required hospital treatment.
The robbers jumped into the Ford Focus, driving away down East Street and Heywood Street.
The first robber – who was carrying the stun gun in his right hand - was described about 5ft 10ins tall, of a skinny build and was wearing a light coloured jacket with the hood up.
He was also thought to be wearing a bright coloured scarf or balaclava and had a deep voice.
The second attacker was described as about 6ft, of a skinny build and wore similar clothes to the first man.
They were both in their mid-twenties.
Detective Constable Gordon Milne, from GMP’s Bury borough, said: “This was a horrific attack during daylight hours which left the victim extremely shaken and in a lot pain.
“From our enquiries so far we believe that the Ford Focus was using false registration plates of ML15 YTX.
“I would urge anyone who saw this car in the area at the time of the attack to please call us.
“This was a brutal attack and we need to find the men responsible. Any information – no matter how small you might think it is – could really help us.”
