Brother and sister attacked in Moston pub

Police investigate following attack.

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man and woman were attacked in a pub in Moston. At 11.30pm on Saturday 30th April 2016 a 34-year-old man and his 36-year-old sister were in the Gardner’s Arms pub on Lightbowne Road, when he was involved in a verbal disagreement with another man, sat with a group of six or seven men and women at a nearby table. At about 11.45pm, the man and his sister got up to leave, but the group attacked him; punching and kicking him to head and body. As the woman intervened to help, she was also punched and kicked to face and one of the group stamped on her arm. The man sustained a broken jaw and the woman was left with a broken wrist. One of the men in the group has been described as white, in his late 30s – early 40s, 5ft 8in tall, of large build and had a bald head. He was wearing a white shirt. Detective Sergeant Johnathan Yates states “This was a vicious assault on the victims, who were enjoying an evening with family when they were attacked. “If you were in the pub at the time and saw what happened I would urge you to contact police.” Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 0161 856 3231, 101, or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
