The body of what is believed to be a newborn baby has been found in a field in Rochdale.
Police say it was found on land just off George Street in Heywood this morning.
Detectives have taped off the area and launched an investigation as enquiries in the area continue.
A police spokesperson said: "At around 7.10am on Wednesday 4th April, we were called to a field near George Street in Heywood, to reports that the body of a baby had been found.
"Officers attended and discovered the body of what is believed to be a newborn baby."
The North West Ambulance Service also attended the incident with a rapid response unit. Nobody was taken to hospital.
