City’s chiefs have created a special seasonal card this year with the iconic image of the Manchester Bee, which has this year, more than no other, become a sign of unity and caring for one another.

The cards will carry the message ‘Merry Christmas. Wishing you peace and health’ and will be available from Friday 1 December.

25% profit from the cards will be donated to the city’s ongoing pledge to fight homelessness through its Big Change campaign - which supports individuals by paying for items they need from a deposit for a home to clothes for a job interview, furnishing for a new flat, or travel costs.

Cards featuring two different designs will be sold in packs of 6 for £6.00 at the shop in Manchester Central Library.

Councillor Pat Karney, Manchester’s Christmas spokesperson, said: “Christmas as well all know, is about giving. The Manchester bee cards say it all with words of peace and health - and action around contributing to the city’s work to stop homelessness.”

David Regan, Director of Population Health and Wellbeing at Manchester Health and Care Commissioning - a partnership agreement between Manchester Clinical Commissioning Group said: “The connection between looking after one another and wellbeing cannot be underestimated - and this Manchester card is a poignant token of this spirit not just for Christmas, but for the new year too
