An investigation's underway after a man tried to abduct a 17-year-old girl from Trafford.

It happened in a ginnel between Eden Square and Flixton Road in Urmston at about five o clock last night (Thursday 8th February 2018).

The man grabbed the girl from behind and started dragging her towards a nearby car park but she managed to escape and run to safety.

The man is described as being white in his 30s and around 5ft 4inches tall.

He was wearing blue jeans with holes in the knees and old red Adidas trainers.

Detective Sergeant Dave Jones of GMP’s Trafford borough, said:

“Thankfully the teenage girl managed to escape and run to safety, but she has been left incredibly shaken by this traumatic experience.

“Parents will understandably be concerned, which is why we’ve increased patrols in the area, so if you have any concerns or questions, please have a chat with these local officers who are there for you.

“It’s a busy time of day and this incident took place near to local shops, so if you were travelling around the area and saw anything that could help us identify who this man is, please get in touch.”
