Detectives have released an image of a man they would like to speak to following a sexual assault in Stockport yesterday.

At around 6.40pm on 11 June 2022, officers were called to a report of a sexual assault on a woodland footpath between Brood Road and Mill Lane in Cheadle.

A woman was walking along the wooded footpath towards the back of the Alexandra Hospital when she noticed a male walking behind her. A few minutes later, a male ran past the victim and headed in the direction of Cheadle Mill.

Shortly afterwards, a male, believed to be the one who previously ran past her, grabbed her bottom before pulling at her t-shirt and hair.

Following a number of lines of enquiry, officers are now appealing for anyone who may recognise the male to come forward.

Detective Sergeant Matthew Tarr, from Stockport CID, said: “This was a scary assault on a lone female who was simply going for a walk and is now extremely shaken up.

“We’re appealing for anyone who may have seen or recognise the male pictured to come forward as it may be able to assist with our on-going investigation.

“Anyone with information or may have witnessed anything is asked to call 0161 856 9790 or report it online at www.gmp.police.uk.

“Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 quoting incident number 3017 of 11/06/2022."
