Fourteen animal rights campaigners have been arrested after protesting inside a Michelin star restaurant in Manchester.

A group turned up at Mana last night, sitting at tables holding faking menus demanding a plant-based food system and mass rewilding.

Animal Rebellion say they targeted the restaurant because of its "meat heavy" options including many of the foods with the largest carbon footprint.

In a statement released earlier, Greater Manchester Police told us: 'At around 7:20pm last night (Saturday 3 December 2022) GMP were called to reports of a disturbance outside a premises on Blossom Street, Manchester.

14 individuals were arrested on suspicion of aggravated trespass. They have been released on bail pending further enquiries.

Though this wasn’t a large-scale protest, we understand it caused some disruption in and around the area of Blossom Street last night so would like to thank members of the public and businesses for their patience whilst we responded to the incident in the most appropriate way.'
