Airport security tight ahead of busy bank holiday

Passengers warned to allow plenty of time as record numbers pass through the terminals

There's a strong security presence at Manchester airport as a record-breaking number of passengers fly in and out this Bank Holiday weekend.

392 thousand people will pass through the terminals over the next four days - that's up 10 percent on last year.

Today's expected to be the busiest with over 100 thousand jetting off abroad.

The Airport's offering the following advice for passengers:

  • Leave plenty of time to get to and complete your journey through the airport, including check in and security - Come prepared for security - ensure liquids, gels and pastes in your hand luggage are all under 100ml and in a clear plastic bag. Ensure coats, belts etc are removed before getting to the x-ray machine to save time - The security and safety of all of our passengers is paramount and if any have any questions they should ask a member of staff for help
