A battle to save five Salford nurseries is being taken to Parliament
The Salford nursery campaigners are taking their fight to Parliament.
The campaign- which saw thousands show their support on a march last month- will now be heard in front of MPs.
Steve North is from Unison- and has been at the front of the campaign from the start.
“To take the campaign from where it started to where we are now has been an unexpected journey for all of us involved in it.
“You’ve got to go to the heart of where the problem is and the heart of the problem is in Westminster.
“After our successful march and rally in Salford, we felt we had the momentum to keep this going, we’ve built the mandate to bring this onto a national stage and it feels quite exciting.
“We’re representing communities that have really been forgotten about.
“The reason why these nurseries are so important to us is not only because of the quality of childcare that they provide to the next generation of the people of our city, but they actually give the parents of those children the ability to work, to build their own lives.”
Salford Council says they're having to cut services because of a reduced budget from the Government
