An 18-year-old woman's died after a crash in Salford.

It happened on Eccles Old Road at about 15:35 yesterday afternoon (Friday 1st September 2017).

She was riding a bicycle that collided with a lorry.

The 18-year-old ended up trapped under the HGV and was rescued by firefighters before being taken to hospital where she died a bit later.

An investigation's underway and police are appealing for witnesses or anyone else with information to contact them.

Sergeant Brian Orr, of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said:

“This is a tragic set of circumstances that have sadly taken the life of a woman and our thoughts are with her family at this incredibly difficult time.

“It happened at a busy time of day when people may have been around and I would like to appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time that may have witnesses this collision to contact us.

“We are particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have dashcam footage of the incident.”
