A 15-year-old girl has been raped near the Westfield shopping centre in Stratford, east London.

Police officers investigating the attack are working to identify potential witnesses.

On Saturday, 4 September 2021 between 9.30pm and 10.30pm, the girl was walking along Montfichet Road when she was approached by a man she didn't know. He put his arm around her and led her behind a bench where he attacked her.

The incident was caught on CCTV, and so were images of people walking nearby who could help the police piece together the timeline.

The police are hoping people in the area at the time will come forward

'Horrific'

Detective Sergeant Lauren Servants, from Newham Police, says: "This was a horrific attack and we have specially trained officers providing support to the victim as we work to find and arrest the person responsible.

"If you recognise yourself in the CCTV images, or recognise someone you know, please call us immediately. Identifying these people could assist us in progressing the case."
