Wigan man jailed for numerous sex offences against child
He's been sent to prison for over 16 years after being found guilty at Bolton Crown Court

A man from Wigan has been jailed, after being found guilty of numerous child sex offences against a child.
33 year old Sean Johnson, of Roundhouse Avenue, repeatedly took advantage of a child and would force them to engage in acts with him.
After a trial at Bolton crown court, Johnson was found guilty of 27 counts put before him, including:
- 16 counts of activity with a child
- 6 counts of causing a child to engage in sexual activity
- 2 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13
- 2 counts of assault of a child under 13
- 1 count of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity
He was also jailed for a separate incident, in which a man was attacked in a pub in Wigan which left him with serious injuries.
Johnson previously pleaded guilty to section 18 wounded.
In total, he received 14 years for the sexual offences and a further two-and-a-half for the assault.
Inspector Andy Devine, of GMP’s Wigan division, said: “I firstly want to thank the victims in this case for their bravery throughout the process. Sean Johnson’s crimes were truly horrendous and today marks the culmination of a lengthy investigation.
“We encourage anyone who has been a victim of sexual assault, or knows someone who has, to come forward and speak to the police. We will listen to you and we will investigate. Your safety is our number-one priority.”
