Crumbling concrete: Scarborough school confirms reopening plans
Scalby School in Scarborough has been shut for a week, over concerns about RAAC concrete
A school in Scarborough shut because of concerns over crumbling concrete has confirmed reopening plans.
From next week, Year 7s and Year 11s will go back full time, while there will be a mix of face-to-face teaching and online learning for those in Years 8, 9 and 10.
In a letter to parents, seen by Greatest Hits Radio, headteacher Chris Roberston said: "We have lost 17 classrooms, several support rooms and dining hall facilities".
He added: "Over the next few weeks, a number of the rooms will be returned to action once work has been completed on them.
"Yesterday we placed an order for temporary classrooms which will arrive over the next few weeks."
The return of students will be staggered over the next few weeks, while processes are put in place.
