Demolition begins at Manchester's historic greyhound stadium
It is to be replaced by houses and apartments
Demolition has started on one of Manchester's historic sporting arenas.
The Belle Vue stadium had been the venue for greyhound racing since 1926.
It has also staged speedway and stock car racing.
The Belle Vue Aces speedway team had their home at the stadium between 1988 and 2015 before moving to the new National Speedway Arena a short distance away on Kirmanshulme Lane.
An estate with more than 160 houses and 80 apartments will be built on the site.
The nearby Showcase Cinema is also being demolished to make way for a school.
