A man has been found guilty of attempting to murder two children in an attack near Harrogate.

The pair were injured with a knife in Beckwithshaw in June 2022, with one suffering a serious injury to their neck.

41-year-old George Yates had denied two counts of attempted murder, but had admitted wounding.

During his trial, the court was told Mr Yates was "extremely paranoid" at the time.

Weapons, including knives and bow and arrows were found in his home.

The defence claimed these were indicative of Mr. Yates paranoia and deteriorating mental health.

But a jury found him guilty on both counts.

He'll be sentenced in June.
