Three more men charged following Southport riot
The incident took place a day after the fatal stabbing of three girls
Police investigating a riot that broke out in Southport have charged three more men.
The incident on 30 July, which saw over 50 police officers injured, took place a day after the fatal stabbing of three girls in the town.
Joshua Jones, 31, of St Mark’s Road, in St Helens, has been charged with violent disorder and possession of an offensive weapon. He has been remanded to appear at Liverpool Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 14 August.
Andrew Jackson, 41, of Ramford Street, in St Helens, has been charged with violent disorder and possession of a controlled Class B drug (cannabis). He has also been remanded to appear at Liverpool Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.
Jonathan Duerden, 31, of The Cresent, in Colne, Lancashire, has been charged with violent disorder. He has been remanded to appear at Wirral Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.
It brings the number of charges for disorder in Merseyside to 38 people, with 12 of these already sentenced to prison.
