Teenager suffers serious injuries, after being knocked off his bike in Kirkby
The driver in the incident last night, failed to stop
Police are appealing for information following a fail to stop collision in Kirkby yesterday, Sunday 22 December.
At around 6.25pm, emergency services were called to Bracknell Avenue, near to the junction with Kirkby High School, to reports of a collision involving a grey Honda Civic and a 15-year-old boy, who was riding a pedal cycle.
The cyclist was taken to hospital with numerous injuries and is currently in a serious but stable condition. The car failed to stop following the collision and is believed to have made off in the general direction of Bewley Drive and Broad Lane. Enquiries are ongoing to locate the car and the driver involved.
Detective Sergeant Andy Roper from our Matrix Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: "Our thoughts are with the boy and his family at this time. It is beyond belief that someone would drive away from such an incident and leave behind a seriously injured rider in the road.
"I would urge anyone who may have witnessed the collision or was travelling in the area at the time with a dashcam fitted to their vehicle make contact with our team. Also, if you live in the area and have a CCTV system, I would be grateful if you could check your footage to see if this car passes or can be seen. Alternatively, you can contact our team and we will arrange to upload your footage and review it.
"I would also appeal that if you have seen a grey Honda Civic acting suspiciously in the hours leading up to this collision or parked/abandoned since the incident occurred, to contact us as a matter of urgency."
