Police officer hit with firework on Mischief Night

Detectives are appealing for information after the incident in Belle Vale

An appeal for information's been launched after a police officer was hit by a firework on Mischief Night.

Detectives say the officer was injured on Wednesday evening just after 6:30pm, in Belle Vale Park.

They were responding to reports of youths damaging vehicles, when they were met with a youth wearing all black and face covered, who then fired the rocket towards officers.

An officer was hit, and taken to hospital with a loss of hearing, a laceration to his ear and burns and cuts to his head.

Detective Inspector Neil Dillon's described the incident as "disgraceful" and an appeal for information is ongoing.
