Liverpool were on the wrong end of a huge FA Cup upset as Championship strugglers Plymouth claimed a stunning fourth-round upset at Home Park.

The second tier's bottom club defeated the Premier League table-toppers 1-0 thanks to a second-half penalty from Ryan Hardie.

Reds boss Arne Slot changed all 10 outfield players as he made liberal use of his squad but would still have been shocked by the loss in Devon, which ended fanciful talk of a quadruple for his side.

Hardie grabbed the only goal of the game in the 53rd minute, driving home the spot-kick after a Harvey Elliott handball handed him the opportunity.

Northern Ireland goalkeeper Conor Hazard did well to preserve his side's lead under pressure in the closing stages, saving outstandingly from Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez late on.
