Family pay tribute to "much loved" great-grandmother who died in Liverpool crash
87-year-old Margaret Fairbrother, known as Peggy, died following the collision in Allerton on Saturday (21 September)
The family of a "much loved" great-grandmother who died in a crash on a busy road in Liverpool have paid tribute to her.
87-year-old Margaret Fairbrother, known as Peggy to her loved ones, was seriously injured in the collision involving two cars in Allerton on Saturday (September 21).
She was taken to hospital, but later died.
Her family said: "She was a much loved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be missed deeply by all her family and friends”.
The two male drivers of the vehicles were not seriously injured and are assisting with enquiries.
No arrests have been made.
Detective Sergeant Kurt Timpson, Lead Investigating Officer from Merseyside Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU), said: "Our thoughts are with Peggy’s family at this tragic time and they are being supported by specialist officers.
"It is now a priority for us to get answers for them about how the collision occurred, and my team are working to establish key facts.
In a plea for witnesses, DS Timpson said: "This collision happened on a busy route in and out of the city.
"Early enquiries show there were a number of vehicles in the area at that time, and I believe it may have been witnessed by members of the public or captured on dash cameras.
"I would appeal directly to anyone who saw anything and who has yet to speak with my team to please get in touch."
