Cyclist dies following Seacombe crash
Accident involving a lorry, happened this morning
Police have confirmed that a man who was involved in a road collision in Seacombe this morning, Tuesday 29 October has tragically died.
Emergency services were called at around 7.35am to reports of a collision involving a HGV truck and a cyclist at Tower Road and Birkenhead Road roundabout. The driver of the HGV stopped at the scene.
The cyclist, a 25-year-old man, was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene.
A 36-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless/inconsiderate driving. He is still in police custody to be questioned.
Road closures were in place and have now reopened.
Police are appealing for any witnesses, CCTV and dash camera footage which may assist the investigation.
Detective Sergeant Andy Roper, Lead Investigating Officer for the MATRIX Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “Our thoughts and condolences are with the family of the man who has sadly lost his life following a road collision today.
“The family are being supported by our specially trained liaison officers, and we have launched an investigation into his death.
“I urge anyone who witnessed or has information on this incident to please contact us.
“Alternatively, if you were driving in the vicinity, I ask that you please check your dashcam footage for anything that have captured something which will assist in the investigation the incident.
