Lincolnshire Police have confirmed they have charged a man in connection with the serious assault of another man in Lincoln.

Officers were first called to Merkur Slots on High Street in Lincoln city centre following reports of an incident just after 10:45 a.m. on Thursday (June 13th).

When responders arrived at the area, they found a man in his 20s who had suffered serious stab wounds to his stomach.

The man was taken to hospital by emergency services, where he currently remains. His condition is said to be stable, and his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

A 26-year-old man had been arrested on Thursday evening following the incident and was brought into custody for questioning.

Now, police have charged Owen Blades from Tennyson Street in Gainsborough in connection with the alleged assault.

Blades was charged on one count of grievous bodily harm and a second count of possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.

Officers said they had charged Owen with his offences at 6pm on Friday night (June 14th) and will appear before Lincoln Magistrates' Court later today.

Meanwhile, enquiries into the incident remain ongoing and the force are continuing to appeal to those who may have seen something unusual to get in touch as soon as possible.

Anyone who may have witnessed the attack or have information that could help in the investigation can call 101 and quote incident reference number 113 from June 13th.
