Detectives are urging witnesses to come forward following a report of a rape in the Wybers Wood and Willows area of Grimsby.
Police received an anonymous report on 22nd September 2025 that a woman was raped by a man she is believed to have known in a wooded area of the Willows at approximately 10am on 21st September 2025.
Following the report, officers identified the woman, and Detective Inspector Gemma Walker, leading the investigation from the Protecting Vulnerable People Unit, explained: “My teams have conducted house-to-house enquiries within the area, gathered witness statements, and engaged with the victim to further understand the full circumstances of this case.
“We have identified and arrested a 28-year-old man on suspicion of rape. He has since been conditionally bailed while investigations continue.”
Detectives appeal to five key witnesses
Detective Inspector Walker shared intentions to contact five individuals who are believed to be key witnesses and might possess vital information about the incident:
“It is believed shortly after the incident, the woman was approached by a man and a woman walking a dog nearby, and then a third woman on Mayfair Drive West who is also believed to have helped the woman after seeing her in distress.
“A man and woman in a red car on Great Coates Road are then understood to have aided the woman and dropped her off close to Dale View Street.
“We would like to thank these members of the public who came to the woman’s aid at the time and would urge them to come forward with any information, regardless of how small it may seem, to assist detectives.”
