Concerns about the number of fires caused by batteries and electricals in Lincolnshire

Lincolnshire fire and rescue says the number of fires in the county caused by lithium batteries is far too high.

They're urging people to dispose of batteries correctly.

In the space of a year 64 fires were caused by batteries or electricals whilst there's been several E bike fires in the last few years.

We've been speaking to Dan Moss the area manager for prevention and protection with the fire service in Lincolnshire.

Some item's batteries are safer than others

He told us: "We have been to incidents where E bikes, E scooters, lithium batteries have been involved."

"We're working across the board - the national fire chiefs council are promoting and developing guidance, awareness etc."

He says some item's batteries are safer than others..

"When people are looking to purchase those it's the reputable sellers and making sure they're using those items in line with manufacturer's recommendations."

"Don't buy alternative batteries - don't buy alternative leads and it's exactly the same with these electrical products."
