Households expected to spend £1850 more on bills each year
The changes to household bills are expected to come into affect in April
Households across Lancashire are expected to see their household bills go up by 6% in April, which is said to cost £1850 annually.
Things such as broadband, water, transport, TV bills, car tax and council tax are all set to rise on April 1st.
Tracey Hopkins works for Citizens Advice in Blackpool, and she has been speaking to us about how people can bet prepare for the rising costs.
"People can expect to see their bills go up by about 6% on average. Typical households will see the cost per year increase by £1850."
"Energy prices are going up, but obviously as we are going in to the summer, people should be able to reduce their energy consumption in their homes. Citizens advice provide a lot of support for people who find themselves in debt, and I recommend anyone who needs it does seek out that support"
Tracey spoke further about the support the people of Blackpool, and Lancashire as a whole can receive.
"Being able to budget is something that we support people with. It's really important that people have a good grasp of their income and their expenditure.
"Support available could be in the form of benefits available that haven't been claimed. So people should find out if they are eligible for pension credit and make sure they submit a claim."
