Lancashire man who breached sexual harm prevention order is jailed
He even travelled out of the county to meet women
A Lancashire man who had a sexual relationship with a 17 year old girl, despite being the subject of a sexual harm prevention order, has been jailed.
Callum Cox is a registered sex offender, with a court order issued against him with a number of conditions and prohibitions.
Cox, 23, told officers on a home compliance visit that he didn’t have a mobile phone, access to the internet, or social media.
Just 10 days later, Greater Manchester Police discovered that Cox had been travelling to the Bury area and engaging in a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old girl.
Cox was arrested, and a mobile phone was seized.
On searching his phone, officers found he had intentionally deceived the police in an effort to pursue multiple relationships with women online, including with a 17-year-old girl. He even travelled out of Lancashire, in attempt to avoid detection.
Cox was charged with seven breaches of his SHPO and sex offender notification requirements. He plead guilty to four of the charges.
Cox was sentenced to 31 months imprisonment.
Det. Con. Gemma Anderson, of East MOSOVO, said: “Cox is a serious risk to women, and I welcome the custodial sentence handed down on him this week.
“Cox is a registered sex offender with a sexual harm prevention order. He chose to ignore that order, and pursue relationships with not only a number of women, but a 17-year-old girl too.
