Two men have been jailed for a collective 10 years after a car was taken at knifepoint in Staffordshire.

Dylan Maskery Hurd, 19, of Abbey Hulton, Stoke-on-Trent, and Callum Talbot, 23, of Featherstone, were riding on a moped on 11 September last year when they spotted a man getting out of a Volkswagen Golf R on Brooke Road, Wombourne.

One of them had a knife. They launched an attack on the victim after demanding his car keys and took them from his pocket.

Fortunately, the man was not seriously injured.

Police later found the car abandoned on a car park off Terrace Street, Brierley Hill, near Dudley.

Officers from our City Proactive Team worked hard to capture all of available evidence and identify the suspects from CCTV footage.

Maskery Hurd and Talbot were both charged and eventually pleaded guilty to robbery at their court appearance. They were both sentenced at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on Friday (21 March).

Talbot was jailed for six years and Maskery Hurd was jailed for four years.

Detective Sergeant Marc Proctor, from our City Proactive Team, said: “Two dangerous thieves have been taken off our streets after we launched an investigation into this robbery.

“Dedicated officers are working hard every day across Staffordshire to robustly target those blighting local communities and this is another example of that.” First for all the latest news from across the UK every hour on Hits Radio on DAB, at hitsradio.co.uk and on the Rayo app.
