West Mercia Police are reminding people across Herefordshire and Worcestershire to act safely and responsibly while the Euros are on.

Darren Godsall is the road policing inspector for the force, and says it's important people enjoy the occasion while sticking to the law.

He says if groups are driving to events to watch matches, nominating a designated driver or having a clear plan to get back safely can keep the roads safe.

"The Euros are a great sporting event, but it's really important that people are responsible and they consider what they're going to do before they go and watch matches," he said.

"It's a huge priority ensuring that our roads are safe for all that use them, and enforcement of the drink drive law takes place throughout the year.

"Use a taxi, nominate a driver, make sure that driver doesn't drink any alcoholic drinks, and absolutely do not drink and drive.

"Drink driving can have a serious impact on your actions, it impairs your judgement and it makes you take risks that you may not even realise you're taking, it can destroy lives, destroy families, and the impact of having that one drink can live with you for the rest of your life."

England play again tomorrow evening against Slovenia in their final group stage match.
