A business owner in Tenbury Wells affected by the recent flooding says it's "very upsetting" seeing the impact it has had on both her business and others.

It's a week on since clean-up operations began in the area after the Kyre Brook burst its banks and caused a wall to collapse.

The Worcestershire town, along with other places across the county and in Herefordshire, were impacted following Storm Bert, which also caused disruption to both roads and schools.

Sarah Thompson has been running her Special Occasions business which is based on Teme Street for 24 years, and says she's been flooded multiple times since being there, including this recent one.

"I haven't done a figure yet on what I've lost, but it's a lot," she said.

"I'm hoping if I can, perhaps in two weeks I'll be open, with a bit of luck, but it is very upsetting because we've been through this numerous times.

"The impact, because of being in Christmas mode, which is one of my busiest times, I've lost stuff that was in my draws, and although I've got the stock, I now owe my suppliers for stock that I can't sell."

During prime minister's questions last week, West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin asked the Prime Minister about ensuring funding was available to build a scheme which would protect the area.

In response, Keir Starmer said he was "committed" to tackling issues facing flooding across the country and to helping build flood defence schemes in areas such as Tenbury Wells.
