Herefordshire foundation announces funding for charities to help tackle loneliness
They want to improve emotional well-being and community togetherness
Twelve charities and community groups in Herefordshire are set to receive funding in a bid to tackle key issues such as loneliness in the area.
Herefordshire Community Foundation have announced funds totalling £136,363 have been given out, to help reach families in need and improve community togetherness.
Chief Executive for the charity Bridie Sullivan says why this is important to the region.
"This is about supporting grassroots initiatives, to improve community connections and to improve the well-being of people living in Herefordshire," she said.
"In a rural county like Herefordshire, it can be quite hard to access services with the public transport infrastructure, so it's important to make them as accessible as possible for everyone.
"That's why delivering these community based projects are vital, because they can have a real impact on people's emotional well-being, of all ages."
Projects involved will help support young homeless people, along with aiming to connect and bring more people together to stop them feeling isolated.
