Although filming for series 6 of BBC drama Line of Duty was postponed due to the Coronavirus back in 2020, the cast and crew were able to complete filming at the end of the year, with socially distanced measures put in place.

Now that it's been confirmed the hugely-anticipated series, which features the likes of Martin Compston, Vicky McClure and Adrian Dunbar, will air in March, the BBC are doing everything they can in order to ramp up excitement for series 6.

Scottish actor Martin Compston, who plays the role of Detective Sergeant Steve Arnott in the show, has taken to his social media accounts to reveal old episodes from series 2 will now be shown weekly on BBC One.

He wrote, 'To get you in the mood in the run up to Series 6, Line of Duty 2 starts Saturday Feb 6th at 9pm on BBC1. Never has a woman in a neck brace been so terrifying 👀#Dentonarrives'. (sic)

Series 2, which first aired way back in February 2014, with six one-hour episodes in the series, will be repeated starting with episode one on Saturday 6th February at 9pm.

As well as main characters Detective Inspector Kate Fleming, Detective Sergeant Steve Arnott and Superintendent Ted Hastings, series 2 also starred Keeley Hawes as DI Lindsay Denton, and Craig Parkinson as DI Matthew 'Dot' Cottan.

Already this year, Keeley Hawes has appeared in both Finding Alice and It's A Sin, with more projects coming later in the year.

Just in case you've not actually seen series 2 of Line of Duty, we won't spoil it for you, but episode one, titled 'The Ambush', kicks off with an attack on a police convoy escorting a civilian under witness protection.

As the witness is hospitalised after the attack, all police officers involved were killed, except Detective Inspector Lindsay Denton (Keeley Hawes), leading to suspicion.

You can watch series 1-5 of Line of Duty on BBC iPlayer.
