Her sister Amy Walsh is currently starring in Emmerdale, and now it looks like former Girls Aloud star Kimberley Walsh is set to follow in her acting footsteps. The 'Sound Of The Underground' singer has landed herself a role in Channel 4's Ackley Bridge.

Kimberley, who shot to fame when she gained a spot in Girls Aloud on Popstars: The Rivals back in 2001, will reportedly play the role of a "home-wrecking" netball coach in the second series of the school drama. Taking to her Instagram page to share the news, Kimberley wrote, 'Very happy to announce I’ll be joining the extremely talented cast of @ackleybridge for season 2! #AckleyBridge #Claire'. sic

Kimberley's character Claire will join the cast when the series returns to Channel 4 next month. Her character is set to come to blows with headteacher Mandy, who is portrayed by former EastEnders actress Jo Joyner.

Ackley Bridge was dubbed the 'new Waterloo Road' when it first hit our TV screens in June 2017. The show follows the lives and cultures of a largely divided white and Asian population in a Yorkshire mill town.

We can't wait to see Kimberley on screen!

Despite being well known for her time in Girls Aloud, Kimberley has previously dipped her toes into the acting world. The mum-of-two has starred in the likes of Horrid Henry: The Movie and Elf: The Musical in the past.

Kimberley's sister Amy Walsh is also a very popular actor in the world of soap. Amy plays the role of Tracy Metcalfe in ITV soap Emmerdale, so we suspect Kimberley will be asking her sister for a few acting tips.
