Lorde Thanks Hometown Friends And Fans In Local Paper
The 17 year-old two-time Grammy Award winner has penned a thank you letter to her fans in New Zealand.
Lorde has shown the world that despite being a world-famous award-winning pop sensation, she will never forget the fans that helped start it all.
The 17-year-old singer from Auckland, New Zealand, has taken out a two page spread in her local paper, The New Zealand Herald, to thank all those friends and fans who helped start her career in music.
The letter reads:
"If you're reading this, Joel & I won.
HOLY CRAP.
It was a crazy day & my friends and family over here are still freaking out. I just wanted to say thankyou for the time you've given me these past 14 months.
finding out about me online
or in between these pages
or in your headphones.
Without your support, there's no way I would ever have gotten to stand in the middle of the Staples Centre & perform in my school shoes.
I can't wait for tonight's show. Together, we'll make it magic.
I'll see you there.
xxx L"
Earlier this week, at the 65th Grammy Awards in Los Angeles, Lorde took home the Grammy Awards for Song Of The Year and Best Solo Pop Performance.
She has returned to Auckland for a homecoming performance in the city tonight.
