Katy Perry has revealed that she’s “halfway through” recording her fourth studio album.

The 28-year-old California Gurl has been working with a string of big name songwriters and producers on the record including Max Martin (Britney Spears, Ke$ha), Dr Luke (Lady Gaga, Rihanna) and Greg Wells (Adele, Mika).

Katy enthused to Billboard: “(Greg) allows me to vomit words. Not that I can’t find that with other but he just lets me.

“Max and Luke push me the most. As a team we have certain strengths. With Max, it’s melody choices, Luke is production and I’m top line and melody.”

Other collaborations include Sia, the woman behind Rihanna’s ‘Diamonds’, and Katy’s ‘California Gurls’ and ‘Teenage Dream’ co-writer Bonnie McKee.

Describing working with McKee as “like an emotional abuse session", Katy said: "Bonnie and I argue like we’re in the ring fighting for the best lyric. We presented ‘Teenage Dream’ three times (before it was recorded).

"She came in from a yoga class and said, ‘I want to write a song called Double Rainbow.’ So we have a song called Double Rainbow!"

A tough act to follow, Katy’s 2010 album ‘Teenage Dream’ sold over 6million records and spawned seven top 10 singles, including the number ones ‘California Gurls’ and ‘Part Of Me’.
