James Arthur has taken to Twitter to officially confirm that he has left Simon Cowell's record label, Syco.

The news comes only weeks after rumours that the 26 year-old had been dropped from the Sycos impressive portfolio which includes other huge acts such as One Direction and Cher Lloyd.

Taking to Twitter to make the announcement, James said;

"Just to clear things up - I am no longer with Syco, "I would like to thank all at the label for making a great record with me."

Later adding; "I now have to move on and do something different - the future is bright! #LOVE"

A source has confirmed that James was infact dropped by Simon Cowell himself.

The source told The Mirror: “We have basically taken the decision not to take up the option of another album. “James’ record sales were good but he has become a liability and he didn’t listen to anyone.

The departure follows a number of recent controversies surrounding the singer including the incident in March when James openly critised his promotion team via Twitter.

Cowell has previous said that James should "shut up and just put the records out".
