Zayn Malik reveals he suffered from eating disorder in One Direction
Zayn has bravely opened up
Zayn Malik has bravely opened up about his battle with an eating disorder during his time in One Direction.
The 23-year-old, who found fame when he was put into One Direction on The X Factor, has made the revelation in his brand new autobiography, ‘Zayn’.
Revealing to fans that he felt like the only thing he was allowed to control in his life was the amount of food he ate, Zayn said, “Something I’ve never talked about in public before, but which I have come to terms with since leaving the band, is that I was suffering from an eating disorder.”
He went on to add, "It wasn't as though I had any concerns about my weight or anything like that. I'd just go for days, sometimes two or three days straight, without eating anything at all. It got quite serious, although at the time I didn't recognise it for what it was."
In the new book, the ‘Pillowtalk’ singer also admitted that when he looks back at pictures of himself in the band around 2014, he can see how ‘ill’ he was. The book reads, “When I look back at the images of myself from around November 2014, before the final tour, I can see how ill I was.”
