Watch: Michael Fassbender becomes Callum Lynch in new Assassin's Creed film trailer
The trailer doesn't disappoint!
At last, it’s here. The new trailer for the Assassin’s Creed film has arrived and it doesn’t disappoint.
For anyone who’s played the Assassin's Creed games, you should be relieved to know that while the film takes place in the same universe, the story is different.
It's exciting to see games come alive on film but sometimes they don't live up to expectations. Perhaps having an original storyline will work in its favour.
Offering a glimpse into the film, we see X-Men star Michael Fassbender take on the role of Callum Lynch, a bartender who is told that he has been declared dead and thus, no longer exists.
Callum must explore the memories of his ancestors (via a machine, the Animus) and in doing so, realises he’s a descendant of the secret Assassins society.
From the trailer, the scenery promises to be as mesmerising as the games but unlike the interactive version, we’ll be spending slightly more time in the future and they’ve also tried to film in real locations as much as possible instead of using green screens.
Speaking to IGN, Michael explained why. He said:
“There are certain things that we absolutely want to respect in the game but we also want to bring new elements to the game.
"This isn’t a video game that we’re making. We’re trying to make a cinematic experience, so there are new things that we have to introduce.”
Overall, we get to visit the same awe-inspiring world but experience a new story too. For those who haven't played it, they get to experience the rich story for the first time. What’s not to love?

It boasts a star-studded cast incuding Inception actress Marion Cotillard and Jeremy Irons.
The film’s release date has been pushed back multiple times, but it’s hoped it’ll now be in cinemas in December this year.
