Simon Cowell takes swipe at Niall Horan over chart position
Niall's new single reached number nine in the charts
Simon Cowell has appeared to take another swipe at Niall Horan over his decision to sign a solo deal with another record label.
As Niall's debut single 'This Town' missed out on a number one spot to former X Factor winner James Arthur, Simon just couldn’t help himself have the last word.
The X Factor judge said, "He probably would have had a No 1 single if he’d stayed with me. But you know who does have a No 1 this week? James Arthur. Very pleased he’s back with us with a fantastic record."
Niall reportedly turned down a mega money deal with Syco records in favour of rivals Capitol Records last month and it seems Simon is still hurting from the 'snub'.
The Irish singer surprised fans last week when he dropped his brand new single 'This Town' out of nowhere. Taking to social media to announce the news, Niall wrote, ‘Been working in the studio, wanted to share this song I just wrote with you guys. thank you for always being there.’

Niall is first member of One Direction to release solo material, with Harry, Liam and Louis also signing solo deals.
The 23-year-old is currently at number nine on the Official UK Charts.
Meanwhile, Niall seemed to tease fans that he could be heading out on tour when he tweeted saying, ‘Just laying here watching and TV and thinking. Really looking forward to going to cities and maybe seeing them this time. Hahaha’.
Niall is yet to announce any tour details but is expected to go out on the road to promote his solo material.
