Former EastEnders actress Samantha Womack is known for her signature blonde bob - but after years as a blonde bombshell, she's swapped her flaxen tresses for a VERY different look. As Ronnie Mitchell in the soap, she and her on-screen sister Roxy, played by Rita Simons, were beloved up and down the country as the dynamic blonde duo.

But as she prepares to take to the stage in a theatrical adaptation of Girl On The Train, Sam has chosen to change her hair to match her character, Rachel Watson, who was played by Emily Blunt in the 2016 film adaptation.

Posting the snap on Twitter, Samantha captioned it with the message, 'Girl on the train is darker...' sic as delighted fans rushed to reply to the tweet with messages of support, with one writing, 'Stunning, really suits you!' and another commenting, 'Absolutely love it!'

Even her fellow soap stars got in on the act, as Jacqueline Jossa, who previously played Lauren Branning, Emma Barton (Honey Mitchell), Nitin Ganatra (Masood Ahmed), and even Lauren Crace, who played Ronnie's long-lost daughter Danielle, all commented on the photo.

Sam also took the opportunity to once again shoot down rumours that she would not be appearing in this year's series of Strictly Come Dancing, after one fan commented, 'Nice. Think you're going to be my favourite on Strictly Come Dancing. Have you signed up yet?'

She vehemently denied the claims, writing, 'Nooooo!!!'

This comes after the Mirror speculated that she would be taking part in the dancing competition following comments she made to them, saying, "I hate auditions, I hate people judging me. I’m much better in a safer environment. I would really have to manage my anxiety on a job like that.

"I’ve done lots of musicals but I’m not a dancer, so I would be nervous about that. What appeals to me is the fitness and I love dancing in general."

However, she later took to Twitter to deny the claims, simply writing, 'I am not doing Strictly!!!!'

However, this could all be a ruse to distract everyone... We'll find out soon enough!
