Mum faces criticism for letting six-year-old superfan imitate Taylor Swift
Superfan Lilly loves to dress up as her idol
The mum of a six-year-old Taylor Swift superfan, Lilly Neitzert, has come under fire for letting her daughter wear make-up and dress like the star.
Lilly, from Southern Carolina, first discovered her love for the singer when mum Sara would put the song ‘Shake It Off’ on YouTube.
Lilly loved to dance to the song and has enjoyed dressing up as her idol ever since.
Despite a lot of positive comments, Sara admitted that she’s received negative comments saying that it’s inappropriate for her daughter to wear make-up and that Taylor Swift is a bad role model.
The mum responded that she ‘couldn’t disagree more’ and that she felt the ‘Bad Blood’ star was a good idol as she’s ‘very talented’, works hard and ‘seems like an all-round good person’.
She added that Lilly only ever wears make-up for the photos and doesn’t wear it all the time.
Lilly's already planning a Taylor-themed birthday seven months in advance of the date and wants to learn the guitar, just like Taylor.
Her mum calls it ‘Taylor Tuesday’ when she posts pictures to her 7000+ followers on Instagram.
Taylor Swift is known for her generosity for example when she gave $50,000 towards a young fan's medical bills when she couldn't attend the star's concert.
The singer also responded to a Facebook campaign to meet a 12-year-old fan who was losing her hearing due to a progressive disease.
Let's hope Taylor hears about Lilly, we'd love to see that!
