J.K. Rowling reveals a whole lot more about the Harry Potter universe!

J.K. Rowling has given Harry Potter fans a never-seen-before insight into the wizard’s family history!
The online Harry Potter bible, Pottermore, has been “newly reimagined” with an exciting overhaul that contains loads of brand new Potter information.
That info comes in the shape of news, features, and articles as well as new and previously unreleased writing by J.K. Rowling.
Introducing the new site, Rowling wrote: “This is my magical corner of the internet, a place where you can explore my writing, both familiar and new, and where you can read features, articles and news from the Pottermore Team.
“New information will be revealed about the characters, places and magic you’re familiar with, as well as introductions to a few new characters, places and notions.
“Pottermore is a place where you can unleash your imagination and allow it to lead you on adventures; if you need a little extra magic in your life, well, you've come to the right place.”
In an essay titled The Potter Family, Rowling revealed that Harry Potter’s linage stretches back to the 12th century with an “eccentric” wizard called Linfred of Stinchcombe.
Linfred’s nickname ‘the Potterer’ eventually became shortened to ‘Potter’ over time forming the family name.
