Hollyoaks actress Stephanie Waring opens up about ‘scary’ postnatal depression

Hollyoaks actress Stephanie Waring has opened up about her experience of a mental health illness shortly after giving birth.

The brave star, who is known for her role of Cindy Cunnigham in Hollyoaks, recently opened up about suffering from postnatal depression.

Stephanie, who has two daughters 10-year-old Mia and 5-year-old Lexi, suffered from the condition after giving birth to her youngest child.

The actress described her ordeal to Now magazine, saying “I had very bad anxiety, I thought there was something wrong with Lexi, she wasn’t feeding properly and I was scared. I went straight to my doctors and I was in hospital as well. They put me on medication and I also had a lady come visit me every week.”

Stephanie also shared advice for anybody else going through the condition, she said “My advice to anybody would just be to get the help. It’s a mental illness, you can’t just get better from that on your own.”

The 37-year-old is a single parent, sharing Mia with a former partner and has Lexi with ex-boyfriend, Dan Hooper.

Stephanie split from her partner, Rick Shore, last year however he had never been introduced to her two children.

The actress has portrayed the role of fiery Cindy Cunnigham in various spells on the Channel 4 soap since 1996.
